Keep Your Pet On Track For Good Health

A regular physical examination is just as important for your pet as it is for you. Our veterinarians recommend a complete physical exam at least once a year until age 7, and twice a year thereafter. These routine visits allow us to develop a clear picture of your pet’s overall health and track changes over time.
Examinations are essential for identifying potential concerns before they become serious health issues. Catching problems early often leads to more effective, less invasive treatment options. During your visit, your veterinarian will discuss at-home care and answer any questions about your pet’s health.
Wellness exams are the perfect time to ensure your pet stays up to date on vaccinations and preventive care. Keeping your pet protected against common diseases supports their long-term health and well-being.
At Concord Chapel Animal Hospital, your pet receives a comprehensive wellness examination designed to evaluate their overall condition. During the exam, we check the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. We will also palpate muscles and bones for abnormalities, assess reflexes, and look for signs of discomfort or pain.
During the exam, the veterinarian will listen to the heart, take a pulse, and evaluate circulation to ensure everything is functioning properly. In addition, we listen carefully to the lungs for abnormal sounds or breathing irregularities.
Abdominal organs—including the kidneys, liver, and intestines—are gently palpated to check for irregularities, lumps, or areas of sensitivity.
If any abnormalities are found, we’ll discuss them with you in detail and document everything in your pet’s medical record. While many conditions can be detected during a physical exam, some issues may require additional diagnostics, and we’ll guide you through the recommended next steps.
